West Melton News – Real Estate Column

The following article was published in the September 2016 issue of the West Melton News.

For most of us, our home is the place we return to at the end of each day – a unique and personal space in which we raise families and create lasting memories. Representing significant emotional currency, for many kiwi homeowners their property is also their greatest financial investment.

The purpose of this column is to share information concerning home ownership and the West Melton property market. Like me, you may have no intention of selling for many years, but given the emotional and financial equity we all have in our properties, it makes sense to keep half an eye on the market!

Did you know, for instance, that in the 12 months to July approximately $31m of West Melton property changed hands? Or that only 7 homes changed hands all year in 2011, while in 2016 this figure was exceeded in the first quarter? There can be no doubt that things have and will continue to change in the West Melton market – especially as our community grows and matures.

Please feel welcome to get in touch if there are particular matters you would like to see addressed in this column, otherwise I look forward to keeping you up to date with trends and information that I hope you will find useful.
